Employee Benefits

Accidental Death & Dismemberment: The amount of coverage is equal to the annual salary.
Administrative Leave: This is a benefit for management employees. The number of leave hours vary depending on the classification.
Deferred Compensation: Deferred Compensation is available for all employees to voluntarily set aside a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis to supplement retirement. The City pays a portion of the contributions for management employees. The amount varies depending on the classification.
Employee Assistance Program: Confidential counseling and consultation services are available to employees and their eligible family members. Ten (10) visits are provided per fiscal year.
Health: The City provides medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
Holidays: The City observes 13 holidays per year; 11 are designated and 2 are floating for non-safety positions, 9 are designated and 4 are floating for public safety.
Life Insurance: Group term life insurance is provided for employees only. The amount of coverage is equal to the annual salary. Management employees receive additional whole life coverage in amounts equal to annual salary.
Long-Term Disability: The coverage provides 2/3 of the monthly salary in case of illness or injury.
Retiree Health Insurance/Medicare Suppliment: This is a benefit for management and safety employees. The city pays 75% Retiree Health Insurance/100% Medicare Supplement.
Retirement: California Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) - The City pays the 7% employee's contribution to PERS and participates only in the Medicare portion of Social Security.
Sick Leave: Employees accrue 13 days per year.
Sick Leave Incentive: This varies depending on Association.
Tuition Reimbursement: Job-related educational expenses may be reimbursed upon approval and upon satisfactory completion. Reimbursement varies by classification.
Uniform Allowance: Annual uniform allowances are issued to public safety employees that are required to wear a uniform. Non-safety employees that are assigned primarily "out-of-door" are provided with uniform service, annual boot reimbursement, and bi-annual jacket replacement.
Vacation: Employees accrue 10 days per year. Accruals escalate with five-year anniversary increments.
Vehicle Allowance: Monthly vehicle allowance is provided to management employees dependent upon classification.
Well Fitness Program: Fitness and safety programs available to improve the quality of life and well-being of employees. Up to $300 is available for passing annual fitness testing.
